PART-TIME TRAILHEAD STEWARD | JENNER HEADLANDS PRESERVE

JENNER, CALIFORNIA



THE POSITION

The part-time Trailhead Steward serves as a visible presence at the Gateway to the Headlands trailhead. Visitors have hiking access to 14 miles of trails leading through a variety of habitats. The gateway steward primarily interacts with visitors and promotes access and safety awareness; assists with cleaning restrooms and keeping parking lot and trailhead litter free. The Trailhead Steward is responsible for closing the parking lot gates and restroom each scheduled shift. The ideal candidate will have a love for hiking, nature, and a desire to speak with visitors about The Wildlands Conservancy’s mission, and the Jenner Headlands Preserve. Position requires weekend and evening work, working approximately 20 hours per week.

BILINGUAL NATURALIST | WIND WOLVES PRESERVE

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA



THE POSITION

Conduct outdoor education programs in both English and Spanish, teaching children in multiple grade levels environmental, science-based and cultural programs. Topics include ecology, ecosystems, watersheds, geology, animal adaptations, and cultural history. Responsible for providing a safe and interactive learning experience to school and youth groups, and activities and interpretive programs for families and public visitors. Additional responsibilities include greeting visitors on the trail, providing both natural history and Preserve information. Weekly hours range from 18-28 per week, with reduced or no scheduled hours during school and program breaks.

BILINGUAL RANGER | WIND WOLVES PRESERVE

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA



THE POSITION

Performs land stewardship, public contact, maintenance, and habitat restoration. Maintains and improves structures, trails and picnic areas; maintains equipment, vehicles and water systems; and promotes safety awareness among the public and staff.

Establishes and maintains positive professional relationships with local residents, community groups, educational and business entities; explains the dual mission of TWC; coordinate, promote and facilitate volunteer and education programs for land stewardship. Primarily outdoor position working in all weather conditions requires regular and punctual attendance and weekend work.
