PROGRAMS OFFERED

Astronomy Night
Experience the wonder of the night sky at Oak Glen Preserve with Wildlands naturalists and the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers! The Amateur Astronomers will have a variety of telescopes pointed at the night sky, providing you with a chance to take a closer look at planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and more! All ages welcome. No reservations required.

Behold the Beauty - Art in Nature
Create your own piece of art while immersed in the beauty of nature. Artistic instruction is given and tailored to the ability and experience of each participant. The art subject varies each month and materials are provided. Behold the Beauty is held the third Saturday of the month, April through September. All ages welcome. No reservations required.


Fun Unplugged
Don't waste away the summer indoors, head to Oak Glen Preserve for some fun in the sun! Fun Unplugged offers weekly activities like exploring the trails, learning about science, nature or cultural history, or simply making new friends and having fun in an old-fashioned, "unplugged" way. All ages welcome. No reservations required.


Intrepid Trekkers
Get your heart pumping this year with a guided hike with our expert hiker, Ranger Charlie. Tackling these strenous hikes pay off with spectacular views of Southern California from Oak Glen Preserve's Preservation Point. Connect with nature, get a workout, and learn hiking tips and tricks! Ages 18 and older. Reservations required.


Kids for Kids Hike
Join our Junior Rangers for a kid's eye view of the preserve! Learn about the plants and animals of Oak Glen and participate in a nature-inspired craft. All ages welcome. No reservations required.


Lectures and Workshops
Starting a native garde at home? Want to get in touch with your artistic side? Check out our series of lectures and workshops designed to inform, instruct, and inspire. Led by Oak Glen Preserve's expert rangers, garden technicians, and naturalists, there's a little smoething for everyone. Lectures are recommended for ages 16 and older. Workshops are suitable for all ages. Reservations required.


Night Walks
Explore nature at night! Join an Oak Glen Preserve naturalist or special guest for a walk and talk on the Preserve trail. A different theme is presented each month. For ages 10 and older. Not suitable for pets. Reservations required.


Step Outside and Read (S.O.A.R.)
Don't waste away the summer indoors, head to Oak Glen Preserve for some fun in the sun! Join Wildlands' naturalists and guest librarians from the Beaumont Library District under the majestic sequoias and cedars at Oak Glen Preserve. A new book and craft are featured each week in the summer. All ages are welcome. No reservations required.


Wildflower Walks
Join Garden Director Dr. Tim Krantz for a walk through the Southern California Montane Botanic Gardens. We will cover the floral highlights of Hummingbird Hill, Falling Waters, Conifers of California, and Artist's Palette, as well as the new butterfly venue. Last year, the Botanic Garden at Oak Glen Preserve was rated #1 in Southern California for its wildflower displays. All ages welcome. No reservations required.


Volunteer Day
Group projects to contribute to the development and maintenance of the Preserve trail system. These projects vary monthly and are suitable for individuals, families, and established groups. Program will start at 10:00 am and for ages 8 and above.
